The Cirque glacier-traverse

After Mt. Field, I was looking forward to a nice game of tic-tac-toe or maybe a crossword puzzle, but unforunatley for my legs, my good friends Deryl, Greg (the polish hammer) and Simon had the great idea to go for a ski tour around the Cirque peak area. After skiing up a broad forested ridge from the road and into the wide open alpine meadows, boot packing up Cirque peak itself and doing a bit of rappeling, you are rewarded with a nice 380 m run down a nice couloir which brings you to the pocket glacier behind the peak. After taking it all in and once again realizing how good life really is, we made our way over a small pass and down into the glades that surround the peak. The skins went back on as we shot back up to tree line to ski a beutiful run through the trees that eventually delivered us back to the highway, huge grins and all.

Field day

On thursday, the posse assembled to have a good look at Mt.Field. After the obligitory slogging on the access road, we shot into the trees and were soon on our way into the alpine. The closer and closer we got to the peak, the harder it was to contain our excitement as once again, the gnar gods had blessed us with some precious cm's of un-forecasted snow to cover up old ski tracks and blanket everything in howl inducing freshies. Our patience barely took hold and after digging around and referencing our "Avalualaltoror", our "shred pass" had been granted. In no time it seemed, we were at the col and taking off the skins, looking at each other all smiley toothed, thinking that its just too good to be up here with fresh tracks and the stellar visibility. The long run down to the road was really the icing on the cake and just what we all needed to answer the call of glory. Big thanks to M-A and Sean for the great day.

BAMZU!

Indeed the credit card tour was good to us as we spent 3 days at Kicking horse while the whole range was imersed in an epic snowfall. Over 90cm at the hill delivered us to the next level of bamzu. cheers to a great time with the floose, Misha and J-dog..for more check out J's blog at jbmountaindesigns.blogspot.com

New Years at the Horse

On the 31st a great group assembled at Kicking horse resort for a night of good eats, drinks and partying. Chris, Tobi, Katherine, Sean, Michelle and I had a stellar time ringing in the new year at the swanky condo we had rented for the occasion. Later that night, while chanting "first chair, first chair", Michelle, chris and I set out to find the infamous 1000 person party where we danced and hollered until 3am. In the morning we were indeed up for pretty much the first chair as we met up with the huge canmore contingent (16 people!) for a good day of skiing at the hill.

"The Pass" Coming face to face with powder in the land of the big white

Over the 29th and 30th, Michelle and I shot over to Rogers pass with our good friends Jeff and Heather. The snow was steep and deep as it delivered great turns and large smiles to the ecstatic group. Mario and Mel from Revy formally from Canmore invited us to stay with them at there home and we had a good time eating a stellar dinner, swapping stories and going for a swim and hot-tub at the rec center. Next week M-A, Jason and I have 4 days off together for our "credit card tour" and I believe we are going back to that powder mecca....The Pass....
